gPodder Bug Tracker – Bug 2051
Norton 360 reports gPodder 3.8.5 as "Trojan.Gen.SMH"
Last modified: 2016-02-03 20:47:04 GMT
Norton reported a trojan today when running gpodder. Downloaded the latest file, and Norton reported it before trying to install. The previous version I have 3.8.1 is clean.
Thought you'd want to know.
I just checked the files with virustotal.com and www.metascan-online.com, the former reports all clean and the latter reports 1 issue, so this is probably a false positive.
To check whether you downloaded the correct files that we released, please verify the checksums:

The MD5-Checksums of the releases:
If in doubt, you can always build gPodder from the source code and study the source code to be sure that there are no unwanted side effects.

Fixed in gPodder 3.9.0 by removing the auto-download feature and telling the user to go to http://gpodder.org/downloads instead.
