gPodder Bug Tracker – Bug 1942
HTTP Authentication fails
Last modified: 2014-09-01 15:00:38 BST
gpodder 3.7 on Ubuntu 12.04
We use a lot of feeds containing some podcasts only accessible for members, due to copyright restrictions.
When I try to subscribe to a feed with HTTP Authentication using
it works, but gpodder receives only public files, not the member-files.
Looking for the feed-properties, gpodder shows the first letter of Password not capitalized. It looks like this:
Even if I change the passwort to "password" I won't receive "private" files.
gpodder shows no error message, that this feed needs authentication or something I saw screenshots from other users.
Ok, here's a very wild guess why this is happening:
1.) gPodder wrongly lower-cases the username/password pair in the URL
2.) After the feed has been retrieved, the new feed isn't fetched due to conditional HTTP requests (it probably would be refreshed if you wait until the feed itself has some new items)
So if it isn't a server-side problem (I guess you have ruled that out already by e.g. trying via the web browser or something), then making gPodder not mess with the case of the username/password thing should fix the issues.
Fixed here, will be part of the next gPodder release:
