gPodder Bug Tracker – Bug 1742
Auto Embed Album Art
Last modified: 2013-05-07 16:38:21 BST
My mp3 player (Walkman E-475) only reads embedded album art. I'm not sure if mutagen does this but would it be possible to just automatically ebed the album art file that is stored in gpodder-downloads into the file upon sync or immediately after download?
If we implement it, it should be an extension module, not something that's in gPodder core.
Ok sorry to be bothersome but I just went through the process of gimping all my cover art to be compatible with my player and copied it to the corresponding folder in home/user/gPodder/Downloads. Do you know of any way to both strip all tags but embed album art at the same time? That would be awesome.

I had good results with something like Kid3 (http://kid3.sourceforge.net/) - you may want to give it a try.
Bernd: Can (should) we do something about this and create a new extension module that stores album art in the files?
I'm sure I could use something like kid3. I personally use something called mp3 tag in wine which takes a few clicks to add cover art from a file. It's just a minor inconvenience and often times not worth doing. I just find that it's nice to look at the cover art and if there was a sync script or something that took the post sync file and embedded the image that is contained in the download directory that would be just another thing that makes gpodder even more awesome.

How exactly does this work? I enabled the option in preferences and the tags show up on vlc but not on the player itself. I even copied my gimped coverart to the correct folder in gpodder/downloads and renamed them all to folder.jpg like before.
Bump. This seems to work if i turn off the remove tag fefature. I like the remove tag feature though since it will display my custom filename rather than whatever the author of the content tagged it. Also for some reason the embedded art does not show up on my Walkman but displays just fine on vlc. This defeats the purpose. Any help would be appreciated. I even my gimp art in the gpodder download folder with no avail.
