gPodder Bug Tracker – Bug 1492
gPodder not accurately determining the release date of youtbube videos
Last modified: 2012-02-18 08:10:33 GMT
gPodder has been inaccurately showing what date a video was released. I have a dozen or so videos that came out 'Today' as it's telling me, but I know they're at least a few days/weeks old. Also, it has occasionally downloaded really old episodes. The only information I can think to provide with this bug report is the specific channels I subscribe to:
All three of those have issues. I have a single non-youtube podcast feed in addition to those three, but there seems to be no issue with that. I believe this to be isolated to youtube.
So apparently the problem is that there are both values:
<pubDate>Sat, 03 Dec 2011 08:23:57 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-12-05T06:50:26.000Z</atom:updated>
However, the feedparser seems to prefer atom:updated to pubDate. I'll investigate.
Issue forwarded to the feedparser bug tracker:
Fixed in Git: http://gpodder.org/commit/876acad2
This is highly experimental and might break with a future feedparser release, but for now this should make things more sane for YouTube feeds. I hope that the feedparser guys come up with a proper way of fixing this issue.
@Thomas: This is fixed in feedparser svn r663. Thanks for the report!

This bugfix will also be part of the 2.20.1 bugfix release for the 2.x branch.
