gPodder Bug Tracker – Bug 1457
Adding a duplicate podcast gives odd error message
Last modified: 2011-11-12 14:22:26 GMT
If you try to add the same podcast twice, you get an unhelpful error message.
Subscriptions > Add Podcast via URL > http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/frontrow
The message given is an unhelpful "Some podcasts could not be added". Something like "You are already subscribed to that podcast" would be more helpful.
Incidentally, /via/ is a poor choice of words. It means "by way of". A simple /by/ would be better.
Thank you for your bug report. I'll look into it.
Thank you for your bug report.
This has been fixed in Git: http://gpodder.org/commit/d02368dd
The fix will be released as part of gPodder 3.0.1.
In this specific case, the URL is redirected to a different one, so when adding this, the simple URL check doesn't detect the existing subscription. I've now updated the code so that it detects this case and prevents a subscription in this case (plus, it shows a suitable error message).
